History

 

Personal watercraft were initially conceived of in the 1960s by Norwegian-American inventor Clayton Jacobson II right here in California. His designs became the JET SKI in 1970 after his agreement with a different manufacturer ended and he was able to create more stand-up PWC models.

The Kawasaki JET SKI was released in 1972 in Japan and the following year here in the United States. They instantly became popular with watersports enthusiasts everywhere, thanks to their flat hull design and two-stroke engines that cut through water easily. For the remainder of the 20th century, sales continued to climb and others imitated, but never matched, the finesse of the Kawasaki JET SKI.

Now in the 21st century, Kawasaki has continued to develop their original designs to provide a full range of top-tier PWC that perform well in the water and offer riders easy handling and superior stability.

The highly efficient jet pump and three-blade impeller also contribute to the high speeds that this model can reach. Its lightweight V-hull cuts through the waves with ease, agile as anything.

Sit-down riders will prefer something like the STX®-15F models, which can seat up to three passengers while still providing the easy handling and agility that PWC fans are accustomed to. The composite hull is light in weight and the Smart Steering® system and Smart Learning Operation (SLO) mode both help new riders to learn how to master their new personal watercraft.
